Bonnie T. Gardner
My art education took place at duCret School of Art in New Jersey and Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, concentrating mainly on commercial art.I lived in Manhattan and attempted to obtain illustration assignments. The challenge was that I did not have paid work in my portfolio, so worked for free with fledgling publishers in order to build up my portfolio. Once I had published work to show art directors, I had received paid assignments for various well-known publications. After fifteen years of illustrating, I became an art specialist assisting art students with spectrum disorders such as autism and the developmentally disabled. During that time, I had merged my fine art background from art school along with my editorial illustration skills in order to create a hybrid style of artwork. I paint animals as people also known as anthropomorphic art.
